The Kerala biking tour takes off in the town of Fort Kochi, which is sure to intrigue you with its rich Portuguese, Dutch and British heritage. The route will have you cycle right along the seafront, with the deep blue Arabian sea on one side and the fishing villages with their paddy plantations and coconut groves on the other. Our itinerary for this special Kerala cycling holiday has been chalked to give you an up-close look at local life and culture. On this biking tour, you will visit an ancient 5th century church, watch the traditional dances of Kerala, and even enjoy a canoe ride in the narrow backwater canals of Kumarakom. Despite the relatively short duration of five days, you won’t feel being rushed around. One whole evening is reserved for leisure at the beautiful, clean Marari beach. Another will have you soak in the serene surrounding of backwaters in a houseboat. Day 1

Kochi

Chinese Fishing Nets

We pick you up at Cochin International Airport and transfer you to our hotel at Fort Kochi. You meet up with the cycling tour guide and driver, and get to check your bikes.If time permits, you can step out to explore Fort Kochi, a heritage town with a long history of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial occupations. You won’t miss the touch of European architecture and design in the old houses that line the streets of Fort Kochi. You may visit the 16th century church where the Portuguese explorer and sailor Vasco Da Gama was once buried, or you may drop by at the ancient synagogue or Jain Temple. Not to be missed are the famous Chinese Fishing Nets, a big draw among tourists on holiday in Kerala, for they are unique to only a few Indian coastal towns. In the evening, we see a performance of classical dances of Kerala. The experience primes you up for the biking tour ahead.

Day 2

Kochi - Marari Beach

We have an early breakfast and begin our cycling for the day. Leaving behind the bustling town of Fort Kochi, we hit the beach road that takes us through a picturesque country, with endless sea on one side and fishing villages and coconut plantations on the other. Cycling through this stretch should be a breeze, given the bracing air, the good road, friendly people, and pretty sights.We expect to reach our destination for the day, Marari, by afternoon, and check into the hotel for lunch. If delayed, we will lunch at a mid-way restaurant. The afternoon and evening will be reserved for the gorgeous Marari beach, after which we dine at the hotel to call it a day.

Day 3

Marari Beach - Alleppey (Houseboat)

This will be an easy-breezy day of cycling. We have a relaxed breakfast and check out of the hotel at ease. The distance to be covered for the day is not long, but along the way you find much to stop for. The cycling route winds through small villages where you witness coconut husks being processed and spliced into coir ropes and mats. Soon we hit the backwaters and cycle along till we reach our destination in Alleppey: a houseboat. We lunch at the houseboat and spend the rest of the day taking in the beautiful surroundings at leisure. If you wish, you may buy fresh seafood and give it to the chef to cook for your dinner. We overnight at the houseboat.

Day 4

Alleppey - Kumarakom

Thanneermukkam Bundu

We leave the houseboat after breakfast and hit the road for Kumarakom. Veering off the beaten track, we cycle down the less travelled routeto pass through swathes of paddy fields and backwater canals. We meet locals and even pay a visit to the famous Champakulam Church which was first built in AD 427 and has since been rebuilt a few times. One of the oldest churches in India, Champakulam was once under Niranam Church, which was founded by none other than the Apostle St. Thomas himself. The church was recognized as a basilica by Pope Francis in 2016 and holds out great attraction for both the faithful and non-believers. We reach Kumarakom by afternoon. In the evening, we enjoy canoe rides in the narrow canals of Kumarakom.

Day 5

Depart

We check out from the hotel after breakfast. Hereon, you may cycle your way to Kochi, or if you want, we will transfer you directly to Cochin Airport for onward journey. The tour ends.

Accommodation is offered at all locations. Most of the hotels are Culture Resort, Eco Resorts & family run hotels - all with a common line of quality in service. Our costs are based on 'twin-sharing' foundation. For those who wants single room, we offer single room, but at extra cost.

Climate

The variety of the regional features of this country has led to a corresponding variety in environment. The Great Varies have awesome environment throughout the year, while the flatlands are warm and moist. The common level of yearly rain fall is superb in Kerala, Sikkim and some of the Northern Eastern Declares of Native India, when compared to other Native India.
